Carefully crafted from beautifully, dyed & stabilized Redwood burl, raw aluminum and lustrous, shimmering "Blue Magma" resin from Pourly Controlled, this sleek, beautiful piece will be turning heads left, right, and center. The generous section has an exceptionally comfortable taper, and the wood and resin construction lends a luxurious feel that makes for an excellent performer in long form writing. And write it does, with a smooth, high quality Jowo stainless steel nib! Or, order it without the nib to use your own Jowo-compatible unit! Sporting smooth, triple-start threads and a Titanium Nitride-coated stainless steel clip, this pen will serve you will for years to come. 

During the making of this pen, the wood outer sleeve for the cap decided it no long wanted to be one piece, rather, 4 separate pieces. As the cap is entirely resin-lined, and the wood plays no structural function, I have reassembled the broken pieces using a kintsugi-style repair technique. The edges of the broken pieces have been covered in silver leaf, and the everything was reassembled with silver-colored epoxy. The result is a wonderfully lightning-like streaking through the wood, hence the name of this lovely pen. 

The three redwood subfamily genera are Sequoia from coastal California and Oregon, Sequoiadendron from California's Sierra Nevada, and Metasequoia in China. The redwood subfamily contains the largest and tallest trees in the world. These trees can live for thousands of years. Burls from these trees have some incredible figuring, and show some beautiful chatoyance. The stabilizing and dyeing process helps make this wood hard and durable.


The blanks created by Pourly Controlled are unmatched in terms of their uniqueness. The intense cat's eye effect, that is a signature of this line of blanks, makes these resins dance and shimmer like no other!
